See the possibilities with a personalized illustration
An illustration shows how a policy could perform under different assumptions, using your age, health rating, premium and coverage choices.
Start with the conservative scenarios
An illustration shows several sets of assumptions. Reading the cautious ones first gives you a conservative starting point before you look at higher rates; actual results can be lower, including losses.
A 0% scenario
Ask to see the policy at a hypothetical 0% gross rate of return. It shows how the policy could behave if the investment options earned nothing.
Maximum (guaranteed) charges
Look at values using the maximum charges the policy allows, not only current charges, and note the year coverage could lapse.
What your illustration can show
- Potential cash value under hypothetical rates of return
- Death benefit over time for the option you choose
- The impact of different premium amounts and schedules
- Current and maximum (guaranteed) policy charges
- How loans or withdrawals could affect values

Three things to look for
Hypothetical, not guaranteed
Illustrated returns are assumptions, not predictions. Actual results will vary and can be lower, including losses.
Current vs. guaranteed charges
Values are shown using current charges and maximum charges. Compare both columns.
When coverage could lapse
Look for the year values could fall to zero under lower-return assumptions, and what premium would prevent it.
